Connected North

Founded by Cisco Canada in 2013 and now operated by TakingITGlobal, Connected North is a digital video network that connects Indigenous students in K-12 classrooms across remote communities to experiences and resources not available locally.

Classrooms are connected to mentors, mental health and wellness sessions, sports events and experiences, museums, literacy and math support, language revitalization, teacher training and much more. Using Cisco video collaboration technology, sessions are customized to meet the needs of the students, on demand.

To see sessions available to students, check out the 2019-2020 Connected North Session Menu.

From the first pilot school launched in Iqaluit in 2013, today the Connected North network serves over 15,000 Indigenous students in 67 schools across the country. The program is a breakthrough as a powerful means of using technology to reach remote communities and youth to opportunities otherwise unavailable to them, strengthening resilience and building success in school and in life.
